Job Description Job Description Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1 year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered. A full-time position is available for a skilled Sign Language Interpreter to support students across various age groups, including pre-school, elementary, middle, and high school levels. This role involves working 35 hours per week within a school district located in Harvey, LA, with multiple openings available. Key Responsibilities: Facilitate effective communication between deaf or hard-of-hearing students and their peers, teachers, and staff. Provide 1:1 interpreting services tailored to individual student needs. Collaborate with educators and specialists to ensure an accessible and inclusive learning environment. Adapt interpreting methods to support a range of educational settings and grade levels. Participate in meetings and training sessions to stay current with best practices in sign language interpretation. Desired Qualifications: Certification as a Sign Language Interpreter. Experience working in educational settings, preferably with elementary, middle, and high school students. Ability to provide 1:1 support for students requiring individualized attention. Strong communication skills and a commitment to fostering inclusivity. Flexibility to adapt caseload assignments based on experience and district needs.
