are inviting university students who are 18 years of age or older,
have not yet taken college chemistry, are not allergic to latex,
and wish to participate in a study of chemistry thinking.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities : No chemistry experience needed
Position Summary/Job Duties: WHO: We are inviting university
students who are 18 years of age or older, have not yet taken
college chemistry, and wish to participate in a study of chemistry
thinking. HOW: Participants will take part in two sessions, lasting
a total of 90 minutes. The first session is in-person and asks you
some general questions about chemistry. You will then be given a
brief lesson and take a test of your understanding of the new
material. In all, this will take about 55 minutes. Your behavior
and talk during this experiment will all be video recorded. The
second session will be scheduled 3 weeks afterward, is in-person,
and will last about 30 minutes. This session tests your
understanding of the new material. WHERE: The in-person sessions
will be located in a private room in either the Educational
Sciences Building (1025 W. Johnson Street, Madison, WI, 535706) or
the Chemistry Building (1101 University Avenue, Madison, WI 53706)
on the UW-Madison campus. WHEN: The in-person sessions will be
scheduled at your convenience until April 2025. BONUS: Compensation
of $15 will be provided for your participation in the first
session, and an additional $10 will be provided for your
participation in the second session. Participation is voluntary and
