Assembler – Electrical Gear (Non-Exempt) Hourly Location: Cudahy,
WI (HQ) and Dane, WI Reports To: Production Manager Department:
Operations Position Overview: The Electrical Assembler is
responsible for the mechanical and basic electrical assembly of
low- and medium-voltage electrical switchgear, control panels, and
power distribution equipment. This role focuses on building
subassemblies and final assemblies in accordance with engineering
drawings, work instructions, and company quality standards. The
position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail,
and the ability to work safely and efficiently in a production
environment. Essential Functions The essential functions of this
position include, but are not limited to, the duties listed below.
These functions may be performed with or without reasonable
accommodation. Electrical Assembly & Wiring · Assemble electrical
gear, enclosures, frames, bus structures, and component
subassemblies according to mechanical drawings, layout drawings,
bills of material (BOMs), and work instructions. · Install
electrical components such as breakers, contactors, relays,
transformers, terminal blocks, and DIN rail-mounted devices. ·
Coordinate with internal teams and external auditors to prepare for
and support ISO audits. Fit, Finish & Verification · Verify correct
placement, orientation, and secure mounting of components prior to
wiring and testing. · Perform visual and dimensional inspections to
ensure assemblies meet design specifications. · Identify missing,
incorrect, or damaged components and escalate issues as needed. ·
Rework assemblies as required to correct discrepancies. Quality &
Documentation Follow work instructions, quality procedures, and
safety guidelines during all phases of assembly. Complete required
production documentation, checklists, and inspection records
accurately and timely. Support in-process, final, and customer
inspections as needed. Ensure all assemblies meet internal quality
standards prior to shipment. Trouble Shooting & Problem Solving ·
Identify mechanical fitment issues, hardware problems, or component
conflicts during assembly. · Assist wiremen, technicians, and
engineers in resolving assembly-related issues. · Communicate
drawing discrepancies or material issues to engineering and
production leadership. Training & Development: Work with
engineering, quality, and production teams to improve assembly
methods. Provide feedback to engineering on drawing discrepancies
or opportunities for improvement. Safety & Compliance · Follow all
safety procedures, including PPE requirements and proper tool
usage. · Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in
accordance with 5S standards. · Support compliance with OSHA, UL,
ISO, and other applicable safety and regulatory requirements.
Continuous Improvement & Team Support Participate in continuous
improvement initiatives on the production floor. Suggest process
improvements to improve efficiency, quality, and safety. Support
team-based production goals and cross functional collaboration
Qualifications: · 1 years of experience in mechanical or electrical
assembly in a manufacturing or industrial environment. · Ability to
read and interpret mechanical drawings, layout drawings, and bills
of material (BOMs). · Strong attention to detail and commitment to
quality workmanship. · Strong communication skills, with the
ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams. · Ability to
use hand tools, power tools, and electrical test equipment safely.
Preferred Skills: · Experience with low- and medium-voltage
switchgear or control panel assembly. · Familiarity with NEC, UL
508A, or similar electrical standards. · Strong mechanical aptitude
and ability to work from detailed work instructions · Ability to
work independently and as part of a team. · Familiarity with
electrical components and panel layouts. Physical Demands, Work
Environment, and Additional Information While performing the duties
of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand,
walk, and use hands and fingers to handle tools, materials, and
components. The employee may be required to lift, push, or pull
materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. Specific vision
abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth
perception, and the ability to adjust focus. This role is performed
in a manufacturing environment and may involve exposure to moving
mechanical parts, electrical equipment, noise, and varying
temperatures. Use of appropriate personal protective equipment is
