Job Description:

The National Account Director, Market Access is responsible for establishing relationships and engaging with key decision makers, establishing/maintaining access, and establishing strategy and tactics to maximize formulary positions over time. This individual will assess business implications of short and long-term actions with each payer customer and move payer decisions in a direction resulting in improved patient access to Tolmar products. The National Account Director, Market Access will demonstrate strong relationships with Trade/Industry Relations, Medical and Pharmacy Directors (clinical and administrative), Case Managers, Medical Benefit Managers, and other key decisions makers.Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Secure Medical/Pharmacy policy, prior authorization criteria, and reauthorization criteria consistent with FDA label
  • Thorough communication and collaboration with Patient Services & Channel Management to ensure constant exchange of payer policy information to expedite the Script to Ship process and accelerate the denial and appeal process
  • Demonstrate Market Access Knowledge in partnering with Field Sales, Marketing, Field Medical, Commercial Analytics, and Patient Advocacy colleagues to ensure the overall patient access approach meets the needs of patients in the current market environment
  • Coach and train on managed care selling strategies taking advantage of territory coverage landscape
  • Work in an innovative and collaborative environment seeking patient focused solutions
  • Understand and effectively communicate following: distributor channels, reimbursement process, formulary process, and PBM relationships with payers
  • Give in-put to pricing and contract strategy development
  • Ability to negotiate win/win contract decisions with key corporate accounts
  • Provide market insights, trends, competitive activity to inform internal stakeholders
  • Work with Regulatory and Legal to ensure tactics are compliant.
  • Work closely with Contracts & Pricing and Legal to negotiate and execute contracts
  • Effectively position new products with key corporate accounts for commercial launches
  • Proactively reports on local, state, regional, national issues and their potential impact on Market Access strategy, initiatives, and opportunities
  • Creation of Payer development tools such as Business plans, Quarterly Business Reviews, Contract Analysis to maximize opportunities for Tolmar
  • Represent Tolmar at payer meetings such as AMCP, Asembia and PCMAKnowledge, Skills & Abilities
    • Tolmar Operations - understands Tolmar's operating structure and methods
    • Industry Knowledge - understands the pharmaceutical industry and the prescription drug distribution process with exceptional knowledge and understanding of PBM's, commercial coverage (managed care in general), managed Medicaid, and state Medicaid with established relationships, etc.
    • Pharmaceutical Sales Knowledge - displays a broad understanding of sales techniques and the strategic objectives of the pharmaceutical sales marketplace
    • Legal Systems - understands the laws and regulations affecting contracting and pricing in the pharmaceutical industry
    • Product Knowledge - understands the medical/therapeutic usage of Tolmar's products and can communicate these features and benefits accordingly
    • Supply Chain Knowledge - understands the supply chain distribution process and the evolving pedigree environment
    • Communication - ability to communicate ideas and data both verbally and written in a persuasive and appropriate manner
    • Strategic Plan Development and Implementation - ability to develop, implement and monitor the overall Trade Relations strategy
    • Analytical Skills - ability to analyze a wide variety of data including sales and financial data to make business decisions
    • Resource Management - ability to manage internal and external resources effectively to enhance service delivery
    • Business Planning - ability to develop business forecasts and plans
    • Negotiation Skills - ability to explore and evaluate options to achieve beneficial outcomes for all parties involved
    • Forecasting Skills - ability to use current information and expected future trends to establish objectives and goals
    • Relationship Building Skills - ability to develop and maintain strategic relationships with key Trade customers in order to build trust and increase Tolmar's competitive advantage
    • Project Management Skills - ability to manage and complete diverse projects related to Trade customers and Tolmar business initiatives
    • Independent Judgment - ability to exercise sound judgment in managing customers who have a large and dynamic influence on Tolmar's bottom lineEducation & Experience
      • Bachelor's degree in science, business or related field
      • 5+ years working in National Accounts and actionable relationships with assigned National Accounts
      • Comprehensive understanding of process for Commercial, Government, State Medicaid and Medicare Part D Plans and the contracting timing for formulary
      • Sustained history of building relationships and account penetration with Medical Directors, Pharmacy Directors, Clinical Pharmacy Directors, and other key players
      • Rare and specialty therapy launch experience preferred
      • Consummate professional and a team player with a penchant for working cross-functionally with all internal Tolmar stakeholdersWorking Conditions
        • Office environment; requiring sitting and standing.
        • Travel is required up to 60%.
