Chicago office of SmithGroup is looking for a Senior Mission
Critical Project Manager to join our team.Working with us, you
will:
- Manage a range of small to large architectural and engineering
data center projects under the guidance of the Mission Critical
Director, taking primary responsibility for client leadership,
communication, and satisfaction.
- Bring expertise in mission-critical data center design and
project leadership as an architect or engineer.
- Provide leadership and management to strategize successful
project delivery, financial performance, and risk mitigation.
- Develop and maintain positive client relationships, advocating
for clients by aligning expectations with contractual obligations,
corporate goals, and satisfaction.
- Communicate effectively and collaboratively with all project
participants, including internal staff, consultants, clients,
owners, contractors, and jurisdictions.
- Define and develop project schedules to meet contractual
obligations, team size, and skills, while establishing and updating
staffing requirements accordingly.
- Supervise technical and administrative aspects of
multidisciplinary project staff, ensuring targets are met within
corporate policies and standards, and taking responsibility for
client satisfaction, service quality, and financial
performance.
- Manage project communications, delivery, and documentation to
uphold high standards of quality and professionalism.
- Participate in business development by understanding the local
market, engaging in professional organizations, and supporting
proposals and interviews.
- Mentor junior staff and contribute to performance
coaching.
- Assist in recruitment and interviewing processes as needed.An
ideal candidate has:
- A bachelor's degree in Architecture, Engineering, or an
equivalent field.
- At least 15 years of project management experience leading
mission-critical projects, with additional experience in higher
education, science & technology, or government projects being
advantageous.
- LEED AP certification preferred; architectural or professional
engineering registration is required.
- Proven effectiveness in collaborative, multidisciplinary team
environments, with a focus on client satisfaction and
mentorship.
- Thorough knowledge of the project delivery process, capable of
leading design efforts through all phases, including client,
contractor, and internal team interactions.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Bluebeam, and financial
management software; Revit experience is a plus.At SmithGroup, we

to $152,000 annually, with eligibility for performance-based
