Endoscopy Nurse, you’ll play a vital role in educating and
supporting adult patients before their scheduled procedures. You’ll
work in a fast-paced, patient -facing environment, guiding patients
through each step of their visit at the Digestive Health Center-
from admission and procedural sedation to circulating and recovery.
Your ability to communicate effectively and provide compassionate
care will ensure a seamless experience for every patient. In
addition, this role offers a variety of growth opportunities to
support both gastroenterologist and pulmonologists in an acute care
setting at St. Mary’s Hospital. The flexibility to float between
departments provide valuable experience. Does require call for
evening, night, weekend, and holidays. Manageable call coverage is
currently three nights a month and every tenth weekend. - Schedule:
M-F 8 hour shifts. Rotating through staggered shifts starting at
6:30AM, 7AM, 7:30AM, 8AM, 8:30AM. May be expected at times stay
past shift to finish off daily assignment. - Location: Primary
location is the Digestive Health Center in the Outpatient Center on
St. Mary’s Hospital-Madison campus. May need to float over to St.
Mary’s Hospital-Madison Endoscopy Suite to support and be a part of
the inpatient team. Call commitment when working as part of the
inpatient team is about three nights a month and every tenth
weekend. - Qualifications? Procedure sedation experience. ACLS
certification. Experience in a procedure/surgery center. Must be a
RN of atleast 1 year. Hospital experience preferred. - Scrubs
provided - Parking is available on campus about $30/month.
Department has 55 staff. Procedures per month average about900 Job
Summary: Provides direct nursing care in accordance with
established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare
organization. Job Responsibilities and Requirements: PRIMARY
RESPONSIBILITIES - Implements and monitors patient care plans.
Monitors, records and communicates patient condition as
appropriate. - Serves as a primary coordinator of all disciplines
for well-coordinated patient care. - Notes and carries out
physician and nursing orders. - Assesses and coordinates patient's
discharge planning needs with members of the healthcare team. -
Applies the existing body of evidence-based practice and scientific
knowledge in health care to nursing practice, ensuring that nursing
care is delivered based on patient’s age-specific needs and
clinical needs as described in the department's Scope of Service. -
As an SSM Health nurse, I will demonstrate the professional nursing
standards defined in the professional practice model. Uses the ANA
Code of Ethics for Nurses to guide his/her response to the current
and evolving health and nursing needs of our patients and our
patient populations. - Works in a constant state of alertness and
safe manner. - Performs other duties as assigned. EDUCATION -
Graduate of accredited school of nursing or education equivalency
for licensing EXPERIENCE - No experience required PHYSICAL
REQUIREMENTS - Constant use of speech to share information through
oral communication. - Constant standing and walking. - Frequent
lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs. -
Frequent sitting, reaching and keyboard use/data entry. - Frequent
use of vision and depth perception for distances near (20 inches or
less) and far (20 feet or more) and to identify and distinguish
colors. - Frequent use of smell to detect/recognize odors. -
Frequent use of hearing to receive oral communication, distinguish
body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc. -
Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing
25-50 lbs. - Occasional lifting/moving of patients. - Occasional
bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, gripping and
repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements. - Occasional driving. -
