The Trade Operations Product Management Senior Manager is responsible for seamlessly overseeing and managing business and technical aspects of trade products. These products are innovative offerings for our pharmaceutical manufacturer customers and internal colleagues and will continue to represent innovation and growth in the future.

This position will be located out of our offices in Buffalo Grove, IL.

On this high impact team, you will work directly with matrix partners responsible for executing the pipeline of new function releases for the products. With support from the Product Owner, this role will translate business requirements into technical specifications, and be responsible for managing matrix partners to meet the timelines and horizons aligned on with the business.

To meet growth targets, this individual will manage collaborate with several concurrent teams of matrix technical developers and designers. This individual is accountable for making strategic-level roadmap decisions, which will impact hundreds of customers using the product. Additionally, this role will be responsible for sizing, recommending, and vetting the technical specs for new product developments which will drive new lines of business with aggressive growth targets.

Primary responsibilities:

  • Iterate product requirements to capture outsized value for customers and CVS: Interact with customer-facing teams to identify customer needs and prioritize product new features, change requests and bugs. Develop & execute requirement gathering processes for second-generation product offerings from Invoicing, Trade, Negotiations, and cross-enterprise partners. Provide internal and external users with appropriate training to be prepared to ingest and support new product functionalities.
  • Direct technical teams to support the go-to-market strategy for the product: Ensure consistent, smooth performance of the platform. Collaborate with matrixed IT team to manage development roadmap and oversee timelines. Own, prioritize and align the efforts on the product roadmap and backlog with internal and external product stakeholders, including matrix teams. Identify and escalate risks and issues to stakeholders along with providing mitigation plans, recommendations on tradeoffs and solutions. Interface with Product Managers, Project Managers, Business Analysts, Business Owners and Engineers to drive the deployment and roll out of product features. Manage the work of several independent developer teams to produce timely product enhancement and roadmap product rollout timelines. Ensure functional releases are coordinated to produce least disruption for customers, customer success team, and other supporting tech teams.
  • Support strategic roadmap: Provide Product Owner with timely technical recommendations to aid in strategic decision regarding the product. Develop business cases, make recommendations and define success factors for major product enhancements.

The ideal candidate will have the ability to influence and have experience managing and overseeing a technology roadmap. Knowledge of PBM and its interactions with drug manufacturers and pharmaceutical industry will also be critical to your success. Your ability to manage several engineering/development teams simultaneously, as well as your ability to build presentations for cross-functional teams and senior leadership is also important.

Required Qualifications

  • 5 years of product development/management experience or equivalent management consulting experience, including Agile process experience with Extreme Programming (XP), scrum, Kanban, or the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)

Preferred Qualifications

  • 8 years of experience in managed care which may include PBM, Pharma, market access, account management, specialty pharmacy, or health plan experience.
  • Technical product management or product owner experience
  • Operational experience with a relevant PBM function, may include Trade, Invoicing, Negotiations
  • MBA or Computer Science degree preferred
