To support the intersection of three main components of a successful Product Strategy: defining and owning the product direction; building and growing a product team; and establishing the product organization and processes.

 

Role Responsibilities

Product Vision and Strategy – Product Manager, Renewables

  • Help establish and support the product vision for the renewable energy segment, in concert with deep market understanding, to inform the core and new product strategy.
  • Evaluate market needs against UL’s and competitors’ unique abilities and address.
  • Supports and contributes to the go-to-market strategy for renewables, describing how value will be delivered to the customer/user, how UL’s products are differentiated from the competition, and what the business model should be in each market.
  • Prioritize product functions and features into a product roadmap.
  • Monitors set of product goals, outcomes, and corresponding metrics to continually evaluate against and drive future activities and strategies.
  • Evangelizing and communicating the product vision, strategy and goals internally and externally is a critical responsibility of this role.

  • Facilitation skills – ability to lead small to medium groups of internal and external stakeholders towards desired outcomes in order to meet business objectives.
  • Interview skills – ability to conduct discovery sessions with clients, prospects and stakeholders in order to diagnose business opportunities, elicit requirements, and conduct other types of researchand analysis.
  • Strong communication and presentation (PowerPoint) skills.
  • Product management tools – product/service design, analysis (Power BI), product/service development task management and project management, documentation and knowledge (SharePoint), collaboration (e.g. Microsoft Teams, Slack), roadmap and portfolio management (and related software tools).  
  • Formal training and/or certification in Product Management is a plus.

Technical Requirements

Required Experience

  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelor's degree) in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline.
  • 5+ years of technical or business experience in Renewables or a related industry field.
  • 5+ years of related discipline experience or demonstrated competency in Product Management.
  • Working with remote teams is highly valued.
  • Project management certification is a plus
